What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service Privacy Policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Contact forms and Newsletter sign up

Information is provided by the user, this can be by using our contact form or signing up to our newsletter which is all stored on our servers. Users can always request to opt out of our system by deleting their information at any time. The information which is stored is typically a users name and e-mail address. Cookies

If Hotenough.com, or substantially all of its assets were acquired, or in the unlikely event that Hotenough.com goes out of business or enters bankruptcy, user information would be one of the assets that is transferred or acquired by a third party. Hotenough.com is created in partnership with WordPress.com who by default do not share their data with anyone.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where we send your data

All our team are trained in data protection and we keep all our company and customer information that is necessary to provide membership, great content and customer service on our European servers in a secure data centre.

What data breach procedures we have in place

In the unlikely event of a data breach at hotenough.com we have an extremely experienced Data Protection Manager on our team who can minimise any data problems that users may potentially experience. We will only request very basic information in order to be a member of our Hotenough.com site and we will advise our users in the unlikely event of any data breach using our newsletter email system and if there is any change of procedures that may be required in this extremely rare circumstance.

What third parties we receive data from

Our content and articles are all produced in good faith referencing any quotes or ideas from the relevant sources and links are provided in each individual article to these sources. Hotenough.com does not receive any data from any of these referenced links and does not take any responsibility for the security, content or views expressed by any individual or organisation that is referenced with a Hotenough.com article  in an academic way and linked to any third party website.
